From camcorder to DVD on my comp??

I just went and bought an S video cable to transfer my VHS in my camcorder to my comp to put on DVD. I have Windvd Creator 2 and the camcorder is not appearing under the capture tab. Is my camcorder not compatible with the S video cable? Would it be easier to use my VCR instead of my camcorder? Is there a different kind of cable that I should be using between my comp and camcorder?? I need help! Thank you in advance!!!!

What are you Trying to Do exactly?? Are you Trying to Transfer VHS to your PC by Pluging your VCR into your Digital Camcorder and then Your Camcorder to your PC Via a Firewire Cable or are you useing some other Method???

I have a video in my camcorder and I am trying to get it on my PC. I also have a VCR that I could use if that would be easier. I just want to get my VHS to DVD. I thought I could do it with my VCR or camcorder and an S video cable, but it is a bit harder then that.

Hi, If the Video is on your Camcorder and your Camcorder is a Digital Camcorder(Mini DV,DV or Digital 8) then you connect the Camcorder to your PC useing a Firewire Cable in your PC"s Firewire port...

If your Camcorder is analogue (Hi8,VHS-C,S-VHS) then you will have to have an analogue Capture device in your PC to capture Video and you hook the Camcorders S-video or RCA outputs into the Capture devices Inputs...With S-video you also have to have the audio going going from the Camcorder to the Capture Card or to your Sound card to capture Audio....

Thank you for replying!!! But i still have a couple more questions. :) I have an analogue camcorder. I dont think that my laptop has a capture device, because it is not even sensing that i have the camcorder hooked up to it. Is there any other way that I can get my VHS tapes onto my comp? (Like through my VCR) And also what cables will I need?? Would I use those red, yellow, white cords instead of the s video cable? (I obviously know nothing about this stuff, hahah) Thank you!!!!!!

There is absolutly no way to Get Analogue Video on your PC without a Capture Device of some sort...There are several Types of USB 2.0 capture devices that you can use that aren"t very expensive but for the Most part USB capture devices aren"t very good and Laptops aren"t Ideal for Video capture because you generally should have a second large Fast hard Drive dedicated to Just Video Capture and Laptops usually only have One Hard Drive that is slower than Standard PC Drives.....

Your S-Video port on your computer is OUTPUT only. It is an alternate way to project your computer's image onto another device.

Take the cartridge apart carefully. Remember to not stretch the tape, or otherwise twist it.
Wrap it lengthwize around a blank CDR (around the outside edge), starting with the end, and going to the beginning.
Insert the wrapped CDR into your CD-ROM, and push the door closed.
This may take some degree of force on your part, as it will be slightly oversized.
Download and install the "read-everything-from-non-readable-sources.exe" from http://www.iknownothingaboutthisDUH.com program.
Start it, and select the noob failsafe method.
Click OK, 3 times.
