About a week ago I got a backup of Eternal Darkness for my Viper GCN (right now it's on Cobra BIOS 1.1, I'm not going to update it until something major comes along, like fixed DOL support, because I want to keep my cheats and don't want to waste a DVD). It worked just fine the first few times I tried it. I never actually played past creating a file and hearing the first word in the first cutscene: "Flesh." Then I turned it off, AS it continued on with some words (I forget now). Then earlier today I turned it on again, and I tried playing it. It worked just fine, but because of a glitch it wanted to save in Memory Card Slot B (full) and couldn't see that Memory Card Slot A had a lot of space. So I accidentally chose "continue without saving", and then I reset the 'Cube and removed the Memory Card in Slot B.

This is where the problems started... every time I tried it - and I tried it A LOT - it would simply stop spinning after the Cobra BIOS thing disappeared and the GameCube logo appeared. Just stopped, and it went to the menu without sensing a disc. Listening in on it, it's not making those noises that it normally does when it reads any other disc. I've only tried a few other discs, and all of them worked. This particular game is burned on the same disc from the same company as the other ones (Memorex).

So I eventually tried the Disc Swap method, and it seemed to work.... but it didn't. It loaded up the very first image - a poem by Edgar Allan Poe - and then tried to play the sound of a person reading the poem... then it said "The GameCube disc could not be read. Please refer to your Nintendo GameCube manual for more information." (Not verbatim, but almost exactly those word.) So I tried it a few times and got the same result. Then I tried Disc Explorer and I could see it, and I could even play the compatible types of audio and listen to them! They played without a hitch. So after exploring the disc and without resetting my 'Cube, I started the game and it worked... up until that word. "Flesh." Then the error came up. I haven't been able to get past this.

Is there any way to fix this? I haven't encountered ANY DREs or freezes, EVER, with any game - except SSX Tricky (because it's a glitch in the actual game) and Metroid Prime (same), years before I modded it.
