All the methods I've tried, including using the DRK-MRC.exe patch and rebuilding the iso to 1.88GB manually, work but don't produce acceptable results.
With the backup in comparison to the original copy
1) Load times are generally much longer
2) PS2 has to access the DVD constantly and noisily
3) Getting stuck in invisible objects that the PS2 didn't load fast enough occur much more frequently
I have since sold my original copy to my cousin in Arizona so I can no longer figure out what's wrong. I heard Mercenaries is actually using a Dual-Layer DVD initially. Does anyone know the exact file order on the original disk?
How can it be that even with good media the backup does not come even close to the original?
I have just rebuilt the ISO again with the game's main folder, DATAPS2, as the 1st file in the list of CDVDGen and now the noise is no longer there. The file was previously the last file on the list (from the original file order). Hmm.
patch Mercenaries, no need to rebuild it. Mine works just fine using DVD Decrypter. Could also be the media you use that causes the game lag.
There are so many threads here about this game i just wish people would use the search feature before they post.
DawnBob42, i can get you the file order if you still need it, i have Mercenaries at home. Just PM me and i will do it tonight.
