I just want to be able to make it easier to play the movies from the hdd. I use DVD Shrink to back up the DVD and then just play them over the network to the TV. Is there a better way to convert the output of DVD Shrink; into a format easier to play from, let say a Windows media center?

Try Power DVD or Win DVD.
