nice find fishbulb, while i picked up on these maxells on the last time they had a sale for the 100 spindle pack, this is a very good price still~ i believe i got them when it was like $37.99/100, this would actually be a few dollars cheaper, no wait, it's the same price~ HAHAHAHAHA :)
ok it's like 2:30am here and im becoming delirious, but, great find for those maxell fans out there, im sure saugmon has heard of this and if he needs more..im sure he's already on his way~ :)

ok my initial calculation WAS right, it's slightly cheaper LOL
$17.99 x 2 = $35.98
while when i bought 100 pack, it was $37.99 :)
about 2 dollars difference~ good deal~

I have bought both the + and - Maxells from sales at Office Depot and they are great. Will go back and get more.. Just curious as to why the - will burn up to 16X on my NEC 3520 and the + will burn up to only 8X????

Yo kivory, I tried posting to this thread earlier this morning,but it wouldn't let me past the sign-in page.I tried posting 4 times and when I click reply,i'd get that damn sign in page again, UGH!
Now it's working:
Office depot also have the maxell rw's on sale: Spindle of 15 for $9.99
LABOY, I get 12x and 16x out of the majority of 8x media on both my benqs.It's up the the manufacturers recommendations if your firmware will allow this faster burning on the 8x media.I still stick with the 4x, no biggie. The dash 8x burns slower than my plus 8x media on my benq's.You really have to keep an eye on that burn setting.

is the 15pk of the rw's for $9.99 that you mentioned is on sale too a good price? i don't have a SINGLE rw disc in my thousands of dvd-r/dvd+r collection. i wanted to juss mess around with them, kinda like a kid opening up a new toy~ will be a 1st for me in this dvd media world i call home :P gotta get to know the neighbors~
i know people jump on the sales locally when it's approx. $0.40/disc for the 8x media in either format, but, what is a good price range for the re-writables?

yo kivory666, that's the first time I've seen those rw's on sale. Usually about $15 bucks or so. I've seen some ritek rw's on sale for even cheaper.The best price I found locally,was 5 packs of tdk +2.4x rw's at wal-greens for $7.00 on sale.

Be careful about the Sale at Office Depot...I went there to pick some up, and to my surprise...Maxell has shifted their manufacturing to Taiwan. I have a number of these at home, with Made in Japan above the UPC label, and everything on sale, including the boxes up on the shelves...say Made in Taiwan. Guess I will have to look for an alternative to Maxell. The ones made in Japan, have worked perfect for me.

You are right, just got back from Office Depot and noticed the same thing. What was peculiar here was that there was a sticky label over the printed UPC label covering up the Made in Japan with Made in Taiwan.
I picked up a spindle of 50s of the -R nevertheless and compared its Disk code with ones I had picked up months ago. All said "MXL RG03". It does appear that Maxell may be changing its supplier but my Office Depot still has the Made In Japan label so I might stock up while I can.

LABOY, I picked up some maxell dash 4x yellowtops at office depot a while back. They also had a white sticker stating made in taiwan,coving where the made is japan was. They turned out to be Ritek-g04's and worked very good,no coasters.
Office depot is notorious about their sales,one sale will feature the Japanese maxells,while the next will have the taiwanese. All very good,but I have found out some of their smaller either 3 or 5 packs of dash that were made in taiwan are cmags.Just threw me for a loop when I heard from several members.
I've burned quite a few of those mxl-rg03 in the maxell dash 8x gold tops. All performed great. Now,last I saw,taiwan also produces the same ones,but haven't heard of anybody on that code.
The plus 8x are the same. Maxell-003 on the jap media and Ritek-r03 on the thai ones.ALl are still performing just as good as my tys.

A few months ago I bought a 25 pk. spindle of Memorex DVD-RW for $19.99 on sale at Best Buy. Obviously, the Maxell's would be cheaper and not only that, you would be getting a more reliable product. I have had some problems w/ these Memorex RW's. No biggie since they are erasable but definitely not my disc of choice.

thanks for your input fishbulb, sounds like a go for me then...i was going to check and buy some today, but, it's too late now had too much work to do during the day~ :P
i would choose maxell over memorex ANY DAY~, heck, i would throw a piece of bread into my burner before i will ever use Memorex (ok ok, there might be other ones out there too, but my point is any CMC MAG media) again~ :)

I've been using the Maxell 4x +RW for some time now for my data backups. All have been flawless. The Maxell +RW code out as "ricohjpn w11". I believe they are made in taiwan...but so far I am well pleased with all formats of the Maxell brand...

yes i definitely think that is a misprint, even FAKE tys aren't THAT cheap~ lol...even the worst CMC MAGS ever are not THAT cheap~ hahaha
notice there is no description to them, even though the availability says "yes", i wouldn't bother trying to use a credit card with this particular website, i don't trust it~ :P

if they are just "liquidating" their remaining inventory of dvd-media, and that is the CORRECT price, you can put me down for 20 spindles~ LOL, to pay less than $50 for 2,000 pieces of genuine TY...that is simply UNHEARD OF~ :)
if you look in that section of TY, even the blank CD-r are more expensive~ which makes absolutely NO sense at all to me.
