@ ps22man
Have you pulled all the buttons off your keyboard recently?
It seems a couple of'em could have been put back the wrong way around, or maybe the space bar is sticking ;)

HAHAHAH...LOL
i was thinking the same thing orbit :)
anyways, riteks are made in taiwan, but they are decent media.
secondly, Verbatims, which i highly suggest to others as well is also made in Taiwan (the older stock is made in Singapore, but are very good too)...they are great media~
ALL of my TYs are made in Japan and they are the BEST MEDIA i could recommend to anyone making backups.
hope that helps clarify some questions you might have.
Recommended Media:

Ritek are made in taiwan. So are verbatim data life plus. All work very good for me.You just have to be cautious with the verbatim data life media, some of those are cmags.Ricohjpn also are made in taiwan. All of my maxell +4x have their ID code and I have used 3/5/10/15/25/and 50 packs with that ID.
I believe singapore produces the data life plus 16x verbatim data life plus. The 8x verb data life plus are sweet.
Which format do you burn with?
Quality may vary between the same brand of media/quantity size/ and different formats.

Hey saugmon :) Long time no see!
@ ps22man
I still believe in my Sony media, - or +, codes shown in my sig as well and both are made in Taiwan. Most of the time they can be bought for under 40 cents a piece at Staples or CompUSA if you live in the states. If you only want the best of the best, most will say TY is the way to go.

I love the sony 1x-8x both plus and dash that are made in japan. The taiwanese are looking good in that 1x-8x speed range.
The 1x-4x and the 4x are the ones you want to watch out for. Sony likes to slap on the same ID code on those dash 1x-4x that are made in taiwan and austria.Sony 04D1 is the code I ran into from both taiwan and austria.

I forgot to mention that they are Sony DVD-R 8X and Sony DVD+R 8X that match the media codes below.

Yo scubabuddy,I know you love those -1x-8x. Unfortunantly for me,some of my friends and family players don't like my dash format backups. I still have 60 more ty-g01s to use up before i start in with my last sony -1x-8x spindle. It will take me a while to use up my dash media.
Have a good one scubabud!

i've used verb 8x -R's (datalifeplus) from Singapore, India and Taiwan. Will check out the 16x next time i need some (won't be a while as i'd stocked up too many already). i think svp.co.uk are doing 25-tubs of 16x for £10 which is ok.
