I am trying to create an SVCD using TMPGEnc 2.5 but after it is finished encoding there is no sound. The video works fine but I am having trouble with the audio. I have read through some of the other threads here but still cannot solve my problem. I tried to use VirtualDub 1.5.10 to extract the audio but when I select my video file I get the error message "Couldn't locate decompressor for format 'DIVX' (DivX 4+) VirtualDub requires a Video for Windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress video. DirectShow codecs, such as those used by Windows Media Player, are not suitble." I don't know if this is a problem with my codec, I currently have the ffdshow codec installed. Please reply if you can help me with my audio problem or how to get VirtualDub to work with my avi file. Thanks.

Make sure your FFDShow is configured to decode DivX Files??? Go into the Configuration settings and select all of the Codecs...also do this in the Audio Settings....If you still can"t get it to work then go and Download and Install the "DiVX Codec"....

If you PM me with your e-mail address I can send you a Small tool that will decompress the audio in your AVI file so that you can encode it in TMPGEnc and get audio....

Cheers

I never played with FFDShow, because I have both the DivX (registered) and Xvid codecs installed. Minon has just suggested you the correct FFDShow settings to make VirtualDub to load any AVI file.
If you read http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/129217... , you'll see that often AVIs have AC3 sound, which TMPGenc is unable fo load (I have been told that fccHandler AC3ACM decompressor http://fcchandler.home.comcast.net/AC3ACM/... makes TMPGenc able to load those formats) . Try installing it, this might solve a lot of problems...

Why would anyone want to transcode audio to mp3 for SVCD? It won't work.
Maybe you should have read the post a bit more thoroughly?
