My PS2 won't boot backup games anymore

Recently my PS2 won't boot any backup copies of the game anymore and I'm not sure why. I don't really know what kinda mod chip my ps2 has but it's the no swap one that my brother had it moded from Asia. I have no problem using it for over a year. I thought it was just bad a burn or newer games that have better protections , but then I tried on the older games that I had no problem booting them before and they won't work neither. Although the original copies works fine but I notice that it has some problem booting up original DL games (God of War, Champions of Norrah for example) sometimes as well. My PS2 is NTSC #39001 (whatever version that is ). I tried to clean the lasor lens and stuff but still didn't solve the problem. Thank you for your time....
