is there such a thing as a "dvd cutter"

like a round scissor made for cutting a round hole in a full size dvd so its a mini dvd.
that would be a great solution instead of the full size "game cube case"

There is a tool that is good for that, it has sharp edges, and you press it hard to DVD, and there's a round cutted DVD. I dont remember it's name but it's a normal tool, not designed to DVD:s but it works.

Sounds nice,

the thing is, i am gonna mod my GC soon. but i heard big dvds are bad for your GC
i only have a dvd+r burner so i can't burn small dvd-r's

so if i can cut a round hole (with mini dvd size exact) in my dvd+r's after burning them. i can use dvd+r for my gc without damaging it

The full sized DVD isn't bad for the GC, the motor that spins the disk is the same drive as that in a DVD player, CD rom, dvd Rom. What might cause issues is the fact that the board that controls the rotation is set to handle mini dvd's, therefor resulting is a slower spin of the disk at the outter most edge.. but since the GC never reaches the outter edge it doesn't factor in.

So, full sized to mini, the motor is the same and will not have any effect.

thanks, allready thought it wouldn't be too damaging, it would probably be more expensive to create a dvd player just for small disks.

i'm gonna buy a gc-case anyway

thanks for the information :)

(btw, i don't think its set to any kind of dvd. it just spins so it can read the dvds right so when you insert a full sized dvd it will probably automaticly use more power to spin it, in order to spin it in the right speed)

btw, when i burn more than 1,4 gb (bigger than the original mini dvd's) is my gamecube able to read it (since the gc laser can move about 0,3 inch further than the mini dvd diameter)
if so, then what is the maximum i can burn on a dvd

Stops the laser from bouncing once it reaches the edge of the disk.

So stops laser bounce / refection

DRE is the buzz word. It actually causes the laser to bounce off the disk and away from the eye therefor not allowing the laser to receive the signal, only one form of DRE.

This is bad cause, if you notice, the game still spins and the laser still reads. Allowing this to continue may cause your GC to burn out.
