Hi all,
Im looking into buying a DVD writter and wanted to know which one was best to buy? Ive found two which look good, the Pioneer DVR-109 and the HP 640. The Pioneer is cheeper, only £30 and ive read on these forums that it is a good choice. The HP is a bit more expensive but has the laser labling this built in which is cool so im undecided. What do you guys think is the best writer for games?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

No matter which drive you buy, buy the one that can burn at 1X. You may not know but speed DOES matter alot in making back up. I made my back up at 4X and the game came up skippping like crazy. Then i reburnt at 2X, the skipping was gone. Some games won't even load if you burn at 4x or more.

Sony DRU-710A all the way!!!
I have last years model the DRU-700A and can burn anything with it including dual layer.
It will burn great at 4X and it is very, very rare that a game i back up does not work. Only if it required a patch or had junk/garbage files. But now with the DMS4 Pro i don't worry about it because it plays everything no problem.

I have 3 great dvd writer which not one of them have let me down and all were under £50 each.

Lite-on 411S
NEC 2510
Pioneer 109

Although the 109 is a faster writer than the NEC for actual compatable media and genral use i find them hard to part.Obviously if i had to choose though i would go with the 109 due to it being 16 speed. As cuteperv mentioned speed is not the most important thing if you want quality back ups. However with the higher speed media becoming more stable all the time its an added advantage.

i9 9900K CPU,ASUS MAXIMUS XI HERO Mobo, Fractal R6 Case,
Corsair H115I ,Corsair RM Series 850W psu,
RTX 3080 Ti ,Corsair DDR4 Vengeance RGB PRO 32GB 1TB Intel SSD 660p Series,1TB M.2 ,36TB Seagate HD,19TB Ext, LG BH16NS40 BD-RW,Creative Sound Blaster Zx 116dB Sound Card, Acer Predator XB321HK 32inch 4K Monitor, 2TB PS4

Any writer will work? 'cause I've got a AOpen 16x that I can't get to read the ps2 format for crap, even after reloading the firmware. Am I doing something wrong with it?
