I have an LG GSA - 4160B and am using DVD X-copy platinum, The copying works fine but when the Writer ejects the disk at the end of the copying process I get the blue screen of death. Then when I exit the screen back to the desk top to load another disk in for copying the system freezes.....Can anyone help please?

DVD X-copy platinum maintains a log, take a look at it to see if there were any errors it detected.

However, I would transition yourself to Shrink and Decrypter....much more reliable and flexible.

Hi there,

There is a forum just for DVDXcopy !

http://dvdxcopy.afterdawn.com

This software is old, and probably doesn't like brand new burners and brand new media.

The other problem with those kind of software, is it will burn at MAX Speed.

Most of us suggest never to burn above 4x for DVD Video, else you might get problems like video freezing and video skipping.
(8x on Taiyo Yuden, cause they are the best media there is).

As for the blue screen of death, next time it happens, it's important to write down the first few lines, then you can research the nex with that error.

It's probably related to a .DLL file, and in those 2-3 lines, you will see that !

If you want to use great software to copy your DVD (And they are FREE), try:

DVD Decrypter v3.5.4.0 (Rip the DVD to your HD).
---> Has a burning engine to burn .ISO
DVDShink v3.2.0.15 if I recall (Shink a DVD9 to a DVD5).

If you want to purchase a great burning software, I suggest

Nero Burning Rom v6.6.0.13
OR
VSO CopyToDVD v3.0.54

With those applications, you will be able to select the burn speed.
Also with DVDShrink, you can set the output size to 4300 Mb instead of 4464 Mb, this way you will not burn so close to the edge of the media, which causes some people problems, specialy on cheap media !

My 2 cents...

I use Ridata at 8x, always, and never had a problem on a hundred or more backups.
