Im using the latest version of Nero Burning Rom and I am trying to put an AVI file onto a CDR to watch in my standalone DVD player. Using a split window view on Nero I see the size of the file on my desktop to be 717,062 KB.. but when I add it to prepare for the CD to be burned the file size comes up as over a a Gig and will not burn onto the CD.. does anyone know the reason for this? and more importantly what can I do to fit this on the CDR?

thanks..

your avi is in the rawest form, for you to get it to a vcd format like mpeg 1 it has to go through an encoding process which changes the format of the file to the one that your dvd player can read. With this change in format the size will increase .So a 717 meg file will more than likely be well over a gig once the process is done.(vcd is an inferior format to that of mpeg2)

Your best solution is this.Get vso divx to dvd.Its free off the net.Convert your avi to mpeg 2 which is the dvd movie file format.Once the conversion is done you will be able to use your nero to burn the file to disc.Alternatively you could also at this stage re author the file and add your own menus before you burn to disc. The disc also would need to change from cd to dvd

If this solution isnt the one for you and you are still adamant that you want a vcd you will need to use something like cucusofts avi2mpeg.This program has the ability to split your file into 2 parts which will allow you to allocate the 1st half of your movie to the 1st disc and the remainder of the movie to the 2nd disc within the boundaries of the encoding process
