I just got a new Hard drive and I installed it to my xbox but it turns on then off then on then off then it flashes red and green

your xbox must be modded to install a new hd

i have a softmodded xbox im using xbox media center as a dashboard, can i install a new hardrive with the files that i have right now in my xbox hardrive ? (5gb) and copy and paste and when i boot on the xbox is gonna work like the one i had ???
