Is there a way or program that can convert a small portion of a movie to a avi file that can be used as a small clip or background piece for a home movie project. I want to use a small portion of the movie "Gettysburg" over some footage of some cilil war battlegrounds that I shot on vacation. I would take it with or without sound.
Any suggestions? alvbr.

Simplest method is easier than pie. the program (free and standalone) MPC (Media Player Classic) opens a VOB file from a DVD, and you can play it etc. then go to 'save as' and save as an .AVI, .mpg, .*, converts anything to anything.
