Matrix MXL2 Boot Problems

Here is the problem:
It will play PS1 and DVD Video backups in PS1/DVD mode but will not play any PS2 (cd/dvd) backups or originals, it just keeps loading into the browser and says "PS2 Game" and if you press "X" to load the game the screen goes black and then comes back on to the previous screen.
I have checked all wiring and also tried different variations of diagrams for the wiring but the results are the same.
If I disable the chip as it states in the instructions then it will boot original PS2 cd/dvd games.
The console is PAL Version 3(SCPH-30003) PS2
If anybody has any advice on this problem it would be great, thanks
