can this be done?

I copied some videos on a cd-r from the computer.. I now want to watch them on my dvd player at home... can this be done? I am a otal newbie to computers ...

you will need to convert those files to a mpeg 1 format then burn them into a VCD or SVCD format.

As you have a cd r burner that should be pretty easy using Nero.
Heres a guide for you to look at but if it isnt the one you are looking for just go to the top of the page go to guides and have a look at the VCD and SVCD section.
