I just burned my first dvd. I have a Sony DVD-ROM DDU1615 and a Philips DVD+-RW DVD8631 on a Dell 8400. I'm using Dvd Shrink and Dvd Decrypter. I thought it went smoothly until I tried to play back the burnt dvd and it wouldn't play. Normally when I put in a dvd it goes right to Windows Media Center and starts, anyway wouldn't recognize it. I tried it in my Jvc in the living room and it played like a dream. What gives?

May not like the disc used, what brand is it?

Try another brand aswell just to rule it out.

Did it play ok in the burner that produced it?

I am just wondering wether your Sony requires a firmware update in order to support the media....

I would have a look at the Sony website and see if there is a firmware update available for your dvdrom, as from what I have read, this is the only one you are having trouble with........

yeah, ive burnt dvds and put them into a friends dvd player and they wont work, but they will play fine in mine, I tend to think that the cheaper the dvd player the better chance you have of it working.
