i have played copied cd`s for years and they have always played spot-on in ALL my players.
i recently tried to do my own but they jump on my car stereo (remembering that copies i`ve bought don`t jump at all).
the cd-r`s i`ve been using are verbatim (silver both sides - hard to tell which is the "burn" side !)
i`ve been burning at 8x speed.
i`ve been using the windows media player "cd burn facility"
while i`m "burning" i don`t use my pc for anything else.
ALL I WANT TO DO IS CREATE MY OWN CD`S FOR MYSELF !!!
ANY HELP/ADVICE AT ALL WILL BE APPRECIATED, CHEERS.

Couple things you should try:

1. Try burning at a slower speed. 8x isn't all that fast by today's standards, but some burners are better than others. When I'm burning movies I often find that ones I burned at faster speeds skip more than the ones I burn at slower speeds.

2. Try a different CD brand. I've found that the kind that are silver on both sides are extra cheap. I've had several where the silver part just flaked off that's how cheap they were. BAD media. TDK is a recommended brand (though I once had an entire spindle of bad TDK discs from Costco. They refunded me without question.) I've also had good luck with Memorex, Sony and Imation.

I've never used it myself (I don't have XP) so I can't really say. I think if trying different CDs and different burning speeds produces the same results, then the software may be the culprit.

what programs other than windows media cd facility burning program are you familiar with.?

If memorex works for you stick with them but unfortunately 99% of the population find that they are useless.A better quality cdr is ritek .
