Hello
my first attemps to backup a dvd are worthless, so i tried using dvd shrink 3.0.2 with anydvd.
Now here comes the strange part, when i copy cellular on a DVD RW disk it works without problems on my dvd player, but when I burn the exact dvd on a dvd R it says it cannot play on my dvd player but the disk works fine on my computer.
Anyhow, I tried to backup another dvd and suddenly dvd shrink says after reading it 'Out of memory'?
I have a P 4 2.8 with 100 gb of free space on my HD
anyone encountering this problem? Or does know a fix ? any other good backing up program ?
Please help me, i'm having a dvd writer for 6 months and never made one succesfull copy :(
greetings

What was the title of that movie?
Could try to disable the preview window in DVD Shrink.

I use Any DVD with DVD Shrink for all my backups.. havent had any trouble with any movie yet not even closer or any of the newer dvd's.. I dont know why you are having so much problems. I did get that error one time and all I did was take off other movies off my HD and havent gotten the error since.. I just shrink them and backup

@nooblike: When was the last time you did a defrag on your hard drive?
I've gotten this issue because of copy protection, but AnyDVD should take care of that. Are you using the latest version? Is it running in the background? (I've had a few instances where it shut off for some reason)
If it's because of copy protection, you'll notice your buffer go up as high as 2GB (shouldn't get much higher than a couple hundred MB at most) and afterwards you'll only have a little bit of data written on your hard drive (I had 380MB from movie on hard drive at 47% into process).
Also, if you're using multiple RAM sticks, check that your computer sees all of your RAM.

You may want to check what you have running at startup. Spyware and Adware can use resources and tie up memory that you are not aware of. Shut down anything that auto starts at boot up including you antivirus program while doing a dvd backup.

Well i did a defrag on my computer and it didnt work out, closed antivirus tool. Even though it cant be spyware cause i am running ad aware, spybot search and destroy and window washer. I also have the latest norton running for security
I am using AnyDVD 5.1.2.1 trial version for the moment and the latest DVD Shrink. I have put on the 'dutch' translation and the regio 2 - Europe. It still gives me an error 'out of memory' for the movie 'Closer'. I tried 'Cellular' and that one worked, but only on a DVD RW disk. When i burn the movie on dvd R it wont play in a normal dvd player.
What am I doing wrong ?
I wanted to use DVD Decrypter, but the dis is 7.7 gb big, and dvd decryptor works only for less than 4.36 gb
Greetings

Closer is an easy puppy to rip - DVD Shrink only - rolls over and just wants to play.
Think you need to read some of the guides available from guides tab at top of this page.

Are those +R or -R? Have you tried a few different kinds of media? Sounds like that could be your problem.

How much ram do you have installed?? I see your CPU and HD listed but not RAM. You need at least 512mb of ram. XP uses most of 256mb for running the system.

So now you have errors with 2 different programs, Shrink and Decrypter. Its starting to look like a drive problem. If the trouble is ONLY with 1 movie, then the trouble may be the original dvd. If its with several different movies then it is a system problem or drive problem. Errors with 2 or more programs trying to do the same thing usually leaves the software out of the picture. You may need to do a memory test and see if it is working right. I can't help too much more without being in front of the PC myself.

I had the same problem and also with te movie closer.
But whith the protected sector list in DVD Decrypter it works. DVD Decrypter now skips the sectors en i don't have an error any more. Hopely i can shrink it now with DVD Shrink. so thank you cinthya for the help.

Hi Tibau.
I am experiencing the exact same errors as you with DVD Shrink for Closer. I've tried using DVD Decrypter but that too throws up read errors after reaching 3%. I tried Cynthia's suggestion of importing the psl file. The psl file was imported successfully but it still didn't allow me to get past 3%.
Does anyone else know a workaround for this.
Thanks !

yeah its the movie, unfortunatly mate. I did the same thing, tried every possible program avialable, but it wouldnt have it. I felt that it was my computer so i started disabling my firewall+all bg running proccesses & system services. The piece of crap still didnt work. Good luck.

use dvd region+css free in the back ground/open DVD Decrypter and rip movie in file mode to hard drive.
then open DVD Shrink and click on file and browse to the folder you put them in and it will read them, choose title 1 for english and cut the other 3 from the left column ie (angle1/2/3).
worked for me.

I managed to do Closer (Region 2) by using DVDFab Decrypter to rip it to the hard drive followed by Vobblanker, and then Shrink. Worked for me without creating and importing a PSL file into DVD Decrypter.
