I have spent over 12 hours trying to fix this freaking problem! I almost felt like punching my laptop in the face if it had one.
Uninstalling/System Restore to different dates and its still the same. This never happened before.
I get this error while burning within around 25 seconds when it reaches 5 percent it says ''Unspecified target error'' other times i got
''Power Caliberation Error'' and when I system restored back to an earlier time it said ''Unknown Burn Phase''???? My computer wont make up its mind on whats wrong with it and its CONFUSING.
I am using the newest Nero
I have a Intel Centrino Laptop 1.3 Ghz with a DVD-CD Burner Drive
MASHITA DVD-RAM UJ-811 is the drive I have. Im just trying to burn some video files in ISO Format not DVD Video or anything like that just as data.
I am still able to reuse the discs because there is no burn ring at it seems it wasnt even able to stary burning. Im running out of HD Space and I need to burn to free up some space. PLEASE anyone I really need help you have no idea how much im suffering just to try to fix this problem! If i can give any clue onto whats wrong i think in the burn tab there was a loading bar blended in the back loading the drive saying Waiting for drive to become ready... but i dont see it anymore??
I never gave a log before i dunno if im doing it right cuz i just see people giving the info. If anyone can help me please im going to drive insane. Thank You People who r good with computers at took the time to read my thread and tried to help me. If you can save me from this problem I Love You - [REMOVED] <--e-mail

''Power Caliberation Error'' can be many things.

A power calibration error is caused by the inability of a DVD-RW drive to use a DVD-R or DVD-RW disk.(also effects cd rom drives)

DVD-R and DVD-RW disks themselves have information written on them, within this Media ID code there is information that the drive uses to calibrate itself to the disk, when a drive first starts to write to a disk it will burn a small amount of data to a calibration area on the disc, using the calibration information in the Media ID code, and then try to read back the data that it has written. If it cannot be read, then disk will be ejected and fail with a power calibration error.

A power calibration error is normally caused by problems with the media. Should you be experiencing problems with your drive or the media, we recommend that a disk from a good quality manufacturer be used to test it.

@Nooble - in addition to the other guys' comments -
Quote:
Recorder: <MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ-811> Version: H100
- there's a newer version (H102) of firmware for yoour drive dated Jan 2004 here - http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1750. I think you would want the first 'H102' listed there, as the second 'H102' listed there is specifically for drives in NEC laptops. Maybe try the other things first and worry about firmware if you still have problems. Or another way of putting it - do the easy fixes first, come back to this bugger later :)

- packet writing software - this tends to do nothing except interfere wih Nero. Uninstall this if you can find it, not sure exactly what program installs this particular driver

as i said in the reply you've referred to, the first file is the one you want as you haven't got an NEC laptop - http://121ware.com/support/download/003/811bh102.exe

Though as i said before, first of all uninstall the packet writing software - it's probably Roxio Easy CD Creator or DirectCD. Then we could worry about the firmware...

Hey, don't know if this relates directly to your topic but I had a similar prob with the MATSHITA UJ-832D
--> it simply wasn't detected by Nero 6.x

well I searched 'round through all forums
and somewhere there was said that probs are related to photoshop elements. So I was erasing them from my system - and it finally worked out fine.

just a hint maybe you try this
