I'm planning on buying Swap Magic disks and a slide card, but there's one thing i'm not sure about yet, because i keep hearing different things:
do you need to install a mod chip to boot backup games with the swap magic and slide card?

simply the answer is no you dont need a modchip,though i would look at a fliptop rather than slidecard for ease of use.

yeah i started with a slide card but moved to a flip top after a while

late at night when your trying to open the tray it can get a bit annoying

i got my flip top for £9.99 so there not v expensive
