I just recently bought some TDK CD-R's (CD-R80CB100TP - Don't know if that was any help) and when burning audio CD's, the CD-R was not playable in my portable CD Player. Also, it does play fine in cars, cd-rom, and home audio systems. Could this because the quality of the CD-R? The dye color is light green. Any suggestions?

Thanks

CD quality is getting worse and worse. I bought some TDK Speed-X 80 min discs (they look like silver, but EAC tells they are type 5 - gold ) and they are lousy if played on my old portable CD player. I had to look for older blue discs to hear audio properly (I found some Verbatim Pastel 32X in a shop and I bought 40 of them!!).

This sucks. CD manufacturers make CD just for high recording speed (48 X) and low costs. They forget that customers often need more quality than speed!! I will NEVER burn an audio CD 48X. Why should I buy such CDs?

Also, such CDs do not work on the PSX (whose laser is very weak)... maybe some customer association should do something. Any comment?

I tried to burn an audio CD with TDK blanks 16X and found that I could not use it my car's CD player. It is a new player installed in a 2003 Toyota Camry so the player should not be at fault. Here is the data on the TDK CD-R's.
Code: 97m15s12f
Disc Type: CD-R
Usage: General
Recording Layer: Dye Type 2: Long Strategy (Cyanine, AZO)
Recording Speed: n/a
Capacity: 79:59.74, 703 MB

Thanks for the tip. Since the TDK is made with Cyanine, does the silverish blue green (cyan) recording surface mean that this CD is not going to work? What about CD-R's made with Phthalocyanine? I keep reading that Taiyo Yuden made CD-R's are the best but they use Cyanine almost exclusively. Appreciate any further advice you might have.
