For Playstation 2 V3 Which DVDr is best to use + or -?(movies)
Also what brand is best for movies?
Which DVDr is best to use + or -?(Games)
Also what brand is best for Games?

I have had the same problem with all my backup movies when played on both PS2 and standalone Pioneer DVD player.
The PS2 has trouble reading the disc(9/10 times it doesnt read) and when it does the movie plays for a bit, skips, and then freezes amd message appears "unable to read disc"

For movies I use DVD Shrink and Nero to burn.
I use DVD Decrypter for Games.

Thanx a mill.

-R for sure with a V3
TDK, Phillips, Verbatim should work for both games and movies
Maxell will work for movies too, but not sure about games.
Stay away from Memorex, they just plain suck.

No, it's not possible because the game has to be decrypted and protection removed ( This is my understanding )

My question is, what is the best + or - for the new slim PS2s?

Ps2 Games Have NO protection.
Ps2 games Cannot be shrunk.(YOU CANT USE DVD Shrink ON THEM).
95% of all games will copy fine just using DVD Decrypter at 2x speed
using good media.
(I use Verbatim +r) or Fujifilm +r (See pic below)
newer pstwo models work wery well with +r media.
older ps2 (ver1-4) have problems with +r media.
It really depends on your model ps2.

As far as movies MOST movies you can Just use DVD Shrink,
As long as you have AnyDVD running in the background.

Only a few movies have not worked this way (MOSTLY UINIVERSAL RELEASES).

Hope this clears up any misunderstandings.

Also DVD Shrink works really well for movies if you have Nero 6
It will Transcode (decrypt) the movie file, copy them to a temp folder on your hard drive then ask for your disc. Once you put a disc in it will pop up Nero and burn it. Only takes about 20 minutes to do a movie that way. Just read the DVD Shrink tutorial before you try so you know what parts of the movie to cut out with the reauthor feature in order to make it fit and get a good compression ratio.

If you try to do a whole movie without adavanced analysis, in my opinion, it's crap. I always use advanced analysis, even though it takes 30-60 minutes. The quality is well worth the time.

One example, in Secret Window, there are scenes with fog in the background. The quick shrink makes the fog "choppy", but with advanced analysis with adaptive error correction, the fog "flows" like it should. I may be picky, but I like it as close as possible to the real thing. Only thing I cut out are foreign languages and if there's more than one type of audio (AC3 and DTS 5.1), I have lately just picked DTS. However, older burns look perfect even with all the stuff on them.

I have a friend who has a 40 something inch HD TV and he says unless he pays close attention, he really can't tell the difference.

My PS2 version9 likes nearly everything. It even can play Verbatim DVD+R DL movie backed up flawlessly. If only "Swap Magic" had any DL boot support, then it will boot and play any DVD+R DL beautifully as well. Like Jizmak said; I mainly use Fuji and Verbatim for games, with that being said; I even burned it at 8X speed and still loads/plays like a charm. For movies I used Fuji, Maxell and Sony only.

WARNING: Do not "update/upgrade" your SAMSUNG BD-D5XXX series (Bluray Player), or else you cant enjoy any of your movie files.

EvilHawk, i'll have to give the advanced analysis a try sometime.
I am just putting the main movie on the disc the the compression ratio is like 90% or above. All of my copies look just like the original. Can you fit more on with the advanced analysis or are you just using low (below 85%) compression ratio's?
If you have a compression ratio above 90% your movies will turn out great even in the fast mode.
