I have V7 PS2 with a mod chip
I use Swap Magic 2.0

My question is:
Can I use anything other than swap Magic 2.0 with my v7 machine or can I get some later version of Swap Magic?

There are a couple of newer games I am having troubles with(Mercenaries & True Crime) and I was thinking maybe my old Swap Magic 2.0 is outdated.

So it's either or then?

I either use the patches or I can use the new v 3.6 correct?

If I order v3.6 I won't need these patches correct?

If you are using SwapMagic, then nomatter what version of SwapMagic you have, there are a few games that need to be rebuilt to work. Mercenaries being one of them. Another for example is GodofWar.

But, the newer versions of SwapMagic are a lot nicer, as they eliminate the need for cd/dvdLoader discs to load that long list of games from www.swapmagicfix.com

Is it critical to have the flip top in order to swap?

When I got my mod chip and my swap magic 2.0 cd's the instructions were to hold the eject key till it slid out (faster than normal and closes automatically).

I have burned true crime as a backup and i'm sure I did it right because it actually loads the game and the intro screen but the game won't advance from there.

Here is what I tried,

load swap magic 2.0
hold eject key
swap magic disc for cdloader disc that I made from the patch
I get the correct screen from the cdloader disc and it prompts me to load the backup game.

Is this where I have to have the flip lid so I don't have to open the drawer or can I still use the "hold eject" to swap out the cdloader and load the backup? Or do I hit eject normal and then close the tray to load.

If I "hold eject" and swap the cdloader for the backup game it changes color like it's working but then I get nothing but orange and blue screens.

If I hit eject normal after the cdloader loaded then the ps2 freaks out and locks up.
