I am asking my fellow members, based on their experiences with both of these media, which one produces better quality burns??
I have 100 TY T02s and I recently supplemented them with 100 FujiFilm T02s.
As selfish as this sounds.. I intended to use the TYs for my personal backups and have the FujiFilms for friends and acquaintences. I did not think that there would be a quality difference but reading various forums seem to indicate that this might be the case.
There is a sale on Sony media that has the Yuden000T02 ID and am wondering how it stacks up to the FujiFilm. FYI, I am using an NEC 3500AG with firmware 2TC.
Thanks in advance.

TY made both, they are the same. The discs I would be more concerned with if I were you are those CMC MAGs. Those are synonymous with crap.

Hah hah.. you and Kivory666 keep lambasting me about those CMC MAGS.. again for the record.. these are my test discs, if I learn something new or learn to use a new tool, these are the discs I will use. Or would youhave me waste precious TYs during my learning process ;-)
Thanks for your answer though...

If I were you, I would buy some RW discs(I prefer discs made in japan) instead of using CMC crap and wasting money. Remember, you can erase RWs and recomend them to anyone who is just starting out in the dvd burning scene.
There is also not much of a difference in price between crap and quality media anymore. BestBuy has been notorious for selling made in japan fujis(ty) for $.40 a disc for the last 6 months. If you look in the media forum you'll see that there are places that sell TY media for even less.

Well, if I can get RWs at 8 bucks for a spindle of 50 I will surely do so.
I appreciate the advice, but these CMC MAGS work fine for me. Let's stick to the topic at hand..
Thanks..

5 or less RW discs should be fine.(remember, they can be used over and over again) No need for a spindle of them.

i knew i saw my name mentioned...hehe :)
as per your question, i use BOTH the sony and fujifilm 8x DVD+r media that code out as stated in my signature, i have ran kprobe scans on both of these and the charts are almost identical~ this is like comparing red apples to green apples, still both apples, but, just different "color/label" on the outside. both are equally as sweet and juicy, it's just the difference in the outer shell
hope that clarifies things...i have MORE of the fuji 8x dvd+r than i do the sony, but, even as my tests have shown, they are nearly identical in quality and the difference in the scans are marginal at best for any discrepencies~
might have to think twice now about your preciousssssssss TYs..since these fuji's/sony's are the same as the TY's bought from online retailers w/ out the "brand" being marked on the tops :P
as long as the TYs you get, either locally or online are MADE IN JAPAN, you will be fine~ the only drawback about buying TYs online, just make sure you purchase from a reliable outlet, i have had bad experiences personally with shop4tech selling me FAKE Tys. :) you will be ok with supermediastore/rima/meritline (those 3 i have purchased a lot from, in that order, with minimal problems at all).
good luck with your sonys/fujis, they work great in my personal setup, i have a few hundred of each one left~

Thanks!!!
As tempted as I am to grab a couple of the Sony spindles.. as well as the Verbatims 16x that are also on sale .... I have to hold off. I need a new dvd player and I have my eye on the Philips DVP642. All region player, PAL/NTSC converter, and it plays just about anything you throw at it. I have close to 200 TYs and that will hold me until I get the player and desired media go on sale.
At least now I can add the Sony TYs to my list of media to look for when the sales circulars hit..

u welcome~
yeah, since i buy primarily ONLY dvd+r media, few months ago i decided to try a few more manufacturers under different label names...low and behold, only FUJI and SONY dvd+r are YUDEN coded...ONLY IF THE SPINDLES ARE MADE IN JAPAN~ if you get the made in taiwans, they are NOT TYs...just want to make sure you see that distinction~ :)
good luck w/ your new player and your newly found TYs~ :) have a good one karelj~

hi aabbccdd, i use a sony, which is in fact a rebadged liteon, so, i think even if i linked it to you, it would be identical to the one you have downloaded..sorry~ :) my version probably won't be compatible to your plextor, but, i do remember reading somewhere that if you tinker with your "plextools" that came with your burner, you could run tests fairly similar as kprobe~ hope that helps :)
