I use DVDBackup to take the movie out of the DVD onto my HD, but I only have a CD-RW Drive, so how do I break the movies into parts, and put them on CD-Rs, or "VCDs"??
A format called SVCD produces much better video quality than VCD. What you need to know is if your home dvd player is svcd compliant, or will play svcd format m8. I use DVD2SVCD along with CCE encoder to backup my dvd's to cd-r's.
DVD Decrypter rips the dvd to your hd (vob files, ifo). You'll need a partitioned hd (preferably) of about 17 gigs to be safe to rip, encode dvd's. The reason I say 15 gigs is because creating bin& cue is the best format to burn after the movie has been encoded. I use VCDEasy to burn my backups at 8x
DVD2SVCD: http://212.88.77.140/ Note than CCE is not included. I use CCE 2.5, ole faithful. The majority of my dvd backups are 2 cd sets, or 2 cd-r's and movies that are about 2:15 min and more are on 3 cd sets.
