hello fellas ...

I'm fairly new to the forums and the backup thing, nonetheless I've been extensively reading the forums trying to keep my self updated.

It just happened that I just bought a new PStwo (v12) premoded with Magic V chip, and bought my first game Tekken 5.

I downloaded the latest version of DVD Decrypter, my dvd writer is Pioneer DVR-108 DL(also updated with the latest firmware 1.20).

Whenever I try to make a backup for my original game ( an ISO image on HDD) the burning would stop @ 23% giving me an I/O error. I tried this like ? 10 time already on DVD Decrypter and Nero with the same results. My tekken 5 is NTSC.

I know there might be like tens of new people like me asking the experts about their problems but I would appreciate the patience of you guys.

Oh and here is the DVD Decrypter in case it would help:

I 22:10:16 Operation Started!
I 22:10:16 Source Device: [1:0:0] PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-108 1.20 (G:) (ATA)
I 22:10:16 Source Media Type: DVD-ROM
I 22:10:16 Source Media Region Code: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8
I 22:10:16 Source Media Copyright Protection System Type: None
I 22:10:16 Source Media Application Identifier: PLAYSTATION
I 22:10:16 Source Media Implementation Identifier: DVD-ROM GENERATOR
I 22:10:16 Destination File: E:\DVDIMAGE.ISO
I 22:10:16 File Splitting: Auto
I 22:10:16 Detect Mastering Errors: No
I 22:10:16 Remove Macrovision Protection: Yes
I 22:10:16 Extracting Sectors... (LBA: 0 - 2189231)

Much thanks! :)

Try Using CDR win or Alcohol 120 to burn image. I prefer them over Nero and it has been working really well for me.

Thanks for replying to my thread guys:

Kelewan

I havent reached the part where you burn the .iso image on a DVD Rom. I'm still trying to have an image of the game on my HDD.

X-Station

I'll try the ones you mentioned, although I doubt i will get anything but the same error. I already tried DVD Decrypter, Nero and RecordNow Max all with the same exact error. it stops @ 23%

steimy

and thats what bothering me :(
I know DVD Decrypter should work fine yet I don't know the reason behind this error!

Could it somthing to do with my burner? or this specific copy of the game simply is protected and my writer couldn't burn it ?

Every little help thanks for your participation!

PS: I was able to make a working copy of Ace Combat 5 with DVD Decrypter fine without any errors.

this looks like you are doing an ifo read which is for movies, it will work for some things but it trys to select things to copy, and alter them for making them region free etc... you need to make sure dvd decrypter is in iso read mode, simply press 'R' on your keyboard to enable it... btw you might need a hdd fix some games do (but thats after you've got the iso).

yes I'm sure its set on Reading. like i said I successfully made a copy of Ace Combat5 on Decrypter.

I'm starting to think that the disc I have is the reason behind this error... I tried to use my friend burner(LG) and it also stopped @ 23% with I/O error.

I'm so desperte :(

If both your burner and your friends burner had problems with the disc, it may just be dirty or scratched somewhere that is giving you problems. Like mentioned try cleaning it. And i am sure you already know this but always use ISO Read and ISO Write for games.
Hope you can get it to work.

Yeah, now I'm almost positive its from the disc.

I just made a backup copy of GT4 and GTA:SA successfully. it couldn't be burner issue.

Thanks alot guys! Gonna go and try to finish my super liscen now in GT4 w00t :D
