If I burn at 4x and the backup doesn't even boot(disc read error)Will it boot at 2x supposing everything is done right? If I burn the slowest possible with good media (verbatim) and it makes a bad backup (skipping, flashing, etc.) will it boot up or just give a disc read error?

magic 3.1... I have used verbatim and decrypter, but they still will not boot.I think it is the mod. On the magic website it says you can play all your cdr and dvdr backups. I havn't got any to work yet (dvds)I got the cdrs to work.

Do you all think it is possible to re-mod a ps2?(Taking the magic 3.1 out and installing another)?

I had this problem too. :( but i fixed it by getting usbadvanced (and a really cool external hd which i got today :) )but back to the topic... its not your media its probly your dvd burner because when i used to burn dvd backups i would use an external burner which would burn the game but the game would be quite choppy. So my gues its an external dvd burner or one of the older burners... Am I right???

@ messup000

If I ever see scam links like that in your sig again you're gone. Understand? There's a link to the forum rules in my sig - read them.

Watch your language too.

My killer sig came courtesy of bb "El Jefe" mayo.

I agree no wrong burn speed. several factors cause disc read errors, Burner Quality, Media type and quality, but just b/c the media is expensive does not mean that the media is the best quality, I am using a cheap media and burn at 8x and works perfect.

Yes, there are wrong burning speed. I burnt Suikoden IV at 4x first, then it wouldnt boot. Then i burnt it at 2x speed, it loads fine. Another example is Outlaw Volleyball, i burnt at 2x first, it skipped like crazy. Then i burnt at 4x speed hopping it iwll load faster, it wouldn;'t load at all. I think 1x will do the trick but my buner cannot burn at that speed. The message here is that the slower the speed, the more chances of successs you get.

yeah..But what I am saying and what these "experts" at these companies are saying is, Yes Burning speed is a factor, but its also the burner, you say you burn at 2x and it works, 4x skips, but on my burner most al media types and Brands work very well at 8x, there is no need to burn lower for me. See while you have problems with 4X and I bet 8X, I dont.. Therefore,if you take one media and burn on yours at a speed then take that same media type and burn on mine at same speed and mine works and yours doesnt, 2 things could be wrong, your PS2 laser isnt working well or your burner is putting alot of errors on the disc while mine isnt...

probably the laser but nothing is certain since you have no credentials except guessing so i cannot take whatever you said as a fact but rather personal experience.

Cuteperv, What "credentials" do most of the people have in this forum? The point of what I wrote is to explain the affect of burn speed, drive quality and media quality. I'm not gonna go back and forth about this I've already made my points. Facts are, it works for me. Some of this is common sense,if you use process of elimination and eliminate certain factors of why one thing works for and not the other, you get your answers. And last thing, I'm not tring to say that I know more about the subject than you or anybody else, I come to this forum to learn not argue, but I guess having a ass. degree in CIS and a BA in electronics doesnt matter....
