what is firmware and how can i change it? my old burner broke and i got a new one, but its not working. someone told my it might be my firmware. im not really sure what that is, so if anyone could help me or give any other sugestions to why i cant burn that would be great.

Firmware is sort of a small program of instructions that is installed on the drive itself. It tells the drive how to work properly with different media. Here is a good site thats all about firmware and how to install one. Once on the site, type your model into the search block.

As far as your burner probelm goes, you didn't give us any information on what the exact problem is. We need info like burner model, software being used, what you were doing and the error you got.
