They cost the same at B&H, so I was wondering which one is better.
And also what vcr i need, if this matters.
I've read the topics, and Minion says both are great.So i need some help to pick one.

ADVC 300 is my preference...I wouldnt be able to live without it.

Well the ADVC-300 Captures to a More Versitile and Flexable Format(DV AVI) and Can Capture Potentially better quality Video because the DV AVI Format it captures to is Less compressed than Mpeg and easier to edit....

The Advantage to useing the MpegPro EMR/MVR is that if you are Going directly to DVD without any Real editing then you can save some Time because it captures directly to Mpeg format but if you are going to be doing some Editing and you want the Very best quality then I would Go for the ADVC-300 just make sure that you use a Good Quality encoder Like "Canopus Procoder/Express" or "Tmpgenc Pluss/Express" to encode your Captured Files as the Quality of the Mpeg encodeing will determine the Final output Quality and the Ammount of Video you will be able to fit on a DVD.....
