I need to make a complete 5 disk set. Disk 1 contains the installer of the program and the next 4 all contain dat files. I've been unable to get beyond the install each time I'm prompted to insert disk named "________" which shuold be the dat file disks or disk 1 which also has dat files on it. If anyone has any idea how to make a disk set like this please assist it would be greatly appreciated.

I think you need to check the name of the label name on the discs that you are copying.

If they have a name then you need to burn them with the label name, you can specify this in Nero just before you burn them.
