How do you turn DVD to Avi?

I used DVD Shrink to copy one of the scenes and put it on my comp. Now i want to turn that file into an AVI file. How do you do that?

try using simpledivX can take a long time to do tho, i have a 3.0ghz with 512mb ram and aload of free hd space. the only one i ever tried to do took 16 hours for the full movie, dont know how long the scene is that you have but that might give you some kind of an idea as to how long it may take

I use ImToo DVD Ripper, takes about 1-2 hours for a 2 hr. movie.
