no title after burning dvd-r from tv

this has happend several times.
i time record nascar from tv directly to dvd-r.
dvd recorder shows coping in progress.
after recording is completed, i go to finalize the dvd, and the message shows (no title.)
it shows data has been recorded to the disk.
i cant even play it on the dvd recorder, it was recorded from
what am i doing wrong?
how can i prevent this in the future?
can the title be added?
this does not happen all the time!

I assume you're using a standalone dvd recorder attached to your cable or satellite TV feed and not a dvd drive in a computer. You'll might have better luck using RW media. Does your computer DVD drive read the recorded disk? Your standalone should be able to read the disk whether finalized or not. Could the standalone recorder read the disk before it was finalized? This happened to me once when I finalized a +R disk I had recorded on my standalone. The standalone could read the recorded disk before finalization but not after. I never use anything but RW media now.

As for titles, doesn't your standalone provide a menu choice for adding a title to the disk before finalizing? Mine does.

i am using a stand alone dvd recorder
for some reason the dvd recorder will not read the recorded dvd-r disk
it never gave me the opportunity to finalize
i get the same message on all 3 devises i have nor title
i will check to see if i can add the title before recording.
i have no problem when i record directly, just when i put it on a time recording setting
i will experiment and put on a dvd rw tonight
thanks for your input
