Is there a workaround to the 630MB limit with the Swap Magic discs? I've noticed that a lot of DVD rips are often close to 700MB, and not a single one will load with Swap Magic. I've had several unsuccessful attempts at restoring them to DVD, and not a single one has worked.
I'm sorry if this question has been beaten to death, but I've never actually heard a definitive answer for working around this.

It's been said that you can load large TOC CD games with SMD 3.0 and above with a TOC refresh. To do a TOC refresh, you're supposed to load Swap Magic, insert a higher TOC game, and then you can boot, but whenever I put in a game (an original) it always tells me "Not a valid PS2 Disc" What am I doing wrong?

Yes, I scanned all the folders and subfolders. My biggest question is that whole TOC refresh. Is there a way that I can get my PS2 to think that the TOC is a lot higher than the games I'm booting, even though the disc being used to refresh is a DVD and the game I'm trying to boot is a CD?
I tried refreshing with Cogswap Loader, and I can TOC refresh, but then it thinks that the media it's booting is a DVD, not a CD.
Oh, and since you asked, Hursty, the game I'm working off of is a DVD-rip of Vampire Night, since the actual copy I'm trying to get of it is out of stock in a lot of places.

Do a TOC refresh with Breaker Pro,which is also used for Dvd-Rips.It will boot a PS2 Dvd-Rip 700MB in size.Just boot up Swap Magic Cd and then eject and plug in the Breaker Pro disc.Once it does a TOC refresh just use fliptop/slidecard method to swap for your Dvd-Rip.

i have just tested this conversion.and i must tell you that i have successfuly converted the cd image onto dvd-r,
recheck you have scan everything, open up all folders, scan everything in sight, just in case,
i scanned folders that said "do not require scanning",
you can create an image with Nero first if you like, then burn it with another app'
i do have a modchip however, whether that makes a difference in this case i dont know
best of luck, post back with results

Well, L-Burna, I do a TOC refresh by :
1.) Loading in Swap Magic
2.) Pushing the eject button
3.) Loading in the higher TOC game
4.) Swapping the higher TOC game with my DVD-rip, right?
The thing is that after I push the eject button, and put in another disc, and no matter what disc I use (I use originals), Swap Magic always tells me it's not a valid disc, and the disc never stops spinning, so I can't swap it with another disc.
So, am I doing something wrong, or what?
You see, this is what I'm hoping to be able to do : Use the CD version, have it read a DVD TOC, then swap it for my DVD-rip CD game. Is that possible?
And Hursty, I'll try the conversion again. Let me tell you the steps I took the first time :
1.) Dumped out all the files from an emulated drive on my comp onto another folder.
2.) Used DVD ScanLite 3.6 by Sonix, with the "Restore" feature on all the folders, but I skipped some of the folders that didn't seemingly require the check.
3.) Used CD-DVDGen with the label that the ELF was in (PBPX-95201) and labeled it as "American"
4.) Put the files in the exact same order that they appear on the CD according to Apache2, also by Sonix.
I didn't try to change the LBA values, however, because some of the values were impossible. For instance, some of the addresses started at 24 and such.
Hursty, since you confirmed the conversion as working, do you think I should take the following steps to convert it?
1.) Redump it from the MDF I have of it.
2.) Use DVD Scan by Sonix, this time with the "DVD" feature selected.
3.) Use Nero and drag in the files the files in the order they appear on Apache
4.) Re-burn that image?
I mean, what did you differently from me that gave you a working conversion? And what programs did you use?
When I attempted to boot up my botched DVD of it, I got a black screen at first, and then the red screen of death with Swap Magic.
If possible, I'd like to give the conversion another go because what I'd like to do is get several lightgun DVD-rips on a single disc, and that may be possible if I can get at least one of those rips to work when converted back.
Oh, and thanks for helping me out with this, I've been wanting to figure out this whole DVD-rip back to DVD thing for a few months now.

this worrries me abit
Quote: Used DVD ScanLite 3.6 by Sonix, with the "Restore" feature on all the folders,
why the hell would you do that????
RESTORE????
you need to tick DVD,
then i.....
sourced out all the folders, sub files, bins etc etc,and scanned then all
so all scanned....
open Nero,and select "iso/udf option".new
drag the scanned folders over in the same order they appeared in isobuster, then burned it

Well, Restore is what you're supposed to use in order to restore the old DVD code back into the DVD-Rips.
But hey, you're the one with the working DVD and not me, so I'll kindly just shut the fuck up right now :)
Anyways, I'll try out your method in the morning, and see if I can get it to work. Thanks Hursty :D

I am using the Swap Magic 3 Cd might be different than the one you are using.I see what you mean about the Swap Magic disc and the TOC refresh now.It isn't possible unless the drive stops, you could try out C.M.P. patcher latest version available from Sonix website http://www.backuptools.co.uk .It is alot updated from DvdScanLite and might give you better results. The restore feature is like mentioned, lets you go back and change the code back to original state. For example:if you converted a cd to dvd right, and you have the restore feature selected right. The code for whatever the original state was in would be put back in instead of whatever modifications have already been done. You can use it if you want,it is just for safety.Incase you think you might do something wrong while using it.I honestly have no clue why the drive won't stop for you Remy, but I don't know man it works like a charm for me for some reason. If you convert the cd to dvd you can play it like hursty said, but the only catch is you have to put it on dvd.The only way I have been able to play Dvd-Rips on a 700MB Cd-R is through Breaker Pro.I never used an original Cd game, because my PS2 always has a hard time reading Cd discs.I think your best bet is probably like hursty said, you might have to convert to dvd and then burn it on a dvd.

Hey, Hursty, you were right.
What I did was simply do what you said, I dumped the folders from an emulated drive to my hard drive, patched every single file for DVD with DVD ScanLite 3.7, and continued to convert the original image using CD-DVD GEN 1.2.
I stopped trying to burn it with a dummy file included, and the game now works flawlessly. Thanks a lot, guys. I'll continue with this thread, see if it's possible to get multiple DVD-rips on a single DVD :D

yes,the restore feature as i have gathered is for restoring dvd rips to there original state
so you have to scan it first with restore checked, then scan with dvd checked

This is what I have gathered so far, using an old game Knockout Kings 2002 that was on cd and converted to dvd using C.M.P patcher latest version from Sonix.I just extracted all the files using Isobuster to a folder on the desktop, then opened up the C.M.P patcher made by Sonix. The program is like DvdScan with the interface with added features though. The option I ticked was Dvd then I browsed to the Slus file and IOPRP.img file and patched both.Recompiled all the files in the same order given by Isobuster in Sony CD/Dvd Rom Gen 2.00,and it worked like a charm.I would recommend using the C.M.P patcher though for future games, because it is a more updated patcher. It has the option DVD-9 to DVD-5 patching, which the DvdScan3.7 is lacking.Actually whatever works stick with it,but C.M.P patcher is just an updated version with bugs worked out.
Hey Remy check out MultiLoaderV2 made by Gherudos for multiple game compilations.Another place to check out is probably here http://home.versatel.nl/joeriroels/Download/DVD_games%20DVDRIPS%2... .I hope this helps you out on multiple game compilations.Let me know if you need help making a multi game disc, because it can get tricky sometimes.

You know, I should have used Sonix's CMP patcher, I just downloaded the smallest thing I could find. Well, I'll let you know how things go, guys. 56K is a fun trip, especially for DVD-rips, I'll update this thread when I get some more rips to work with.

i figured it out myself in the end....:)) after a few coasters, and after all that i figured what a complete waste of time it was..:))
i will have to give the new patcher a go,although i have had some success without it,on 1 game at least,as suggested on this thread

Yeah here is a link to the C.M.P patcher http://s51.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=10MCCF0ZO7X6Y2SCITYGUTFVS3 .I don't know what to say hursty, but even when I first got on the site I think I was pushing my luck with Neness.I didn't know at the time, but it was about Sony Cd/Dvd Rom Gen 2.00.I think things are sorted out now.I don't know I wouldn't sweat it man,but I wouldn't worry about it either.I have been banned from a couple sites before,it is just a slap on the hand to be honest(nothing I have done wrong on my part to get ban from a site, and if I am wrong I normally admit to it).I don't regret ps2nfo though, they really suck and are the worse out of all the other sites bro.I tried helping Gherudos out uploading some GameCube apps not that long ago,and I guess he took it personal.Might be having a bad day or something I don't know man,but like I said I wouldn't let it get to you man.
I don't know what Gherudos said to Neness or what happened bro,but that looks pretty bad man.Neness is the Admin,so things are pretty stirred up man.I would probably just leave the site alone to be honest if I was you, because they got you blacklisted over this issue man.I don't really want to take either sides to be honest, because I have no clue who is right or wrong on the matter bro.If I was there to see it maybe I could say something, but right now I am clueless.

Well, back on subject, I'm planning on a little something interesting. Ever since I got my new job, I've had a bit more money to spend, and what I wanted to do was get some lightgun games for my PS2 (since I got tired of the ones on my Dreamcast)
Anyways, my idea is to get a whole load of DVD-rips, pile them onto one or two DVDs, and have a multiloader for them. I thought that would be pretty cool, being able to play Time Crisis 3, Crisis Zone, and Vampire night on the first disc, and having all of the PS2 gun survivor games on the second :D
