I started out with slim jewel cases, and I write the name of the DVD on the actual disk with a marker, but now I am getting too many disks and it is hard to locate the disk that I want when I store it this way.

So, I am looking for a cheap way to store my disks (Let's assume I will have 150 - 250 disks).

I am leaning towards some kind of clear plastic sleeve where you can insert a few disks per page and store them in a 3 ring binder. I figure that way, if i get some more backed-up disks they will be easy to insert and keep alphabetical because i can just insert a new sleeve wherever it needs to go.

Any tips on the best kind to buy?

I have purchased my TY blank media from supermediastore.com and I have been pleased with them, but I would be willing to consider another company if the deal was amazing.

I am not in any rush, but in the next new months I'd like to make this purchase, so let me know if any place has regular sales on this type of produce (and/or free shipping).

I am in the USA.

Thanks again in advance for any help or tips.

I was buying the Case Logic sheets at frys. It holds 4 discs on each side. I believe they were about $5 for 5 sheets, not the cheapest but good quality. You might find them on ebay or just buy a couple of the books that hold 200+ discs. They usually can be had for $10 or less.

I would be concerned about storing archival DVD's I care about in transparent cases. Light over time may damage the contents.

But perhaps you are not interested in long term reliability.

Actually, would the light even be an issue if the pages are not STORED open?

For example, storing the disk in a see-through sleeve so you can read what you wrote on the top of the disk, and maintaining the sleeves in a 3 ring binder. If light is still a problem, the binder can be kept in a box rather than on a shelf.

Of course archival purposes are important, so I welcome ideas. For example, if storing the disks in plastic sleeves has been proven to reduce the shelf life of disks, I'd like to know that.

As far as I know, the only way to ensure disks for archival purposes is to recopy them every 5 years on brand new high quality media.

Even with pages closed, light can reach the disks from the edge.

Black jewel cases and thick black DVD cases are alternatives. I have also seen DVD storage containers advertised, cylinders that hold a hundred or so DVD's with a little slide the selects the one you want.
