Another Panasonic DMR-E85H Problem

I have a colleague who is having problems with his new Panasonic DMR-E85H. It automatically begins in HDD mode and freezes up. He cannot use the remote and it appears to be locked up. I would be grateful for any suggestions.

Upgrade the firmware. See other threads here.

Meanwhile, unplug it for a minute.

If that doesn't work, try resetting to factory defaults (also elsewhere on this forum).

There shold also be a code for reformatting the hard disk.

Test the hard disk by inserting a DVD and use the front panel DRIVE SELECT button to boot into that.

Maybe he has a bad remote?
