can it be possible for the author of a thread,be allowed to......

request a move to another forum section (if they feel they posted it in the wrong section by mistake)

its seems to me that if someone posts there own thread, and dont get a responsive answer, they decide to multipost in another already active thread, and get warned about multiposting, which is quite right.
however,if a request is put in first to shut down the original thread, wouldnt that help???

and although you can contact a moderator by private message,is this the only way??
how about having a page for such actions???,a page where you can report problems, requests,
this page could only be answered by moderators/admin,

or is there already such a section??,and i have missed it?

Each post has a link called "Report an offensive post" on top of it -- that link does exactly the thing you were requesting: it basically informs all of our mods about an issue with a particular post. And that allows you to enter a description for why the post needs mod attention. Would that do the trick?

ah yes, forgot about that one,it just goes to show how inconspicuos it is though, and i bet a lot people dont know its there, maybe this could be incoparated into the actual main thread,at the bottom of each thread,in its own little paragraph,or is that going a little to far!!,hehe

can this be used for "non-offensive" issues?,like requesting a move, etc
if so,people need to be aware of this, and could also be incorparated ino the actual thread?

thanks for reply

Yes, it can be used for reporting a non-offensive request as well -- how it actually works is that it creates a new thread in a forum that is only avail to mods. Mods then read the threads in that forum and the thread that system creates includes the link to the specific post you selected and the reason entered into the box. So, the reason must be read anyway as the url is shown in the same msg.

Hursty,

alot of members do report threads that don't belong ... and the reason they put is "wrong forum, needs to be moved, etc ...."

You can always PM me for a move. Newbies wouldn't do that, mainly because they wouldn't think of PMing a MOD for a move.

Yes it's important that questions be in the right forum, so the experts will be able to take a run at them.
The mods are very good at that, if you see something that could be placed better, just tell them :^)
You're really helping the guy (to get his answers).
