Hi all,

I have a NEC DVD_RW ND-2500A DVD Burner that came with my pc. I have used it in the past to make Audio CDs and Data CDs and DVDs.

Now I am trying to burn a movie onto a DVD, using Liquid Video DVD-R 4.7 GB, 120 min video, 2x Speed DVDs.

I have 3 bin and cue files that I would like to put on one DVD. The problem is every program I have tried (alcohol 120% and Nero) has told me that the disk I am trying to use won't work. Alcohol says insert a blank disk and Nero says:

"Sorry your compilation cannot be written to this type of disc. Please insert a disc of the correct type or modify the compilation settings to make it compatible with the current disk."

I am at a loss. Please help.

read my input on this thread,it will show you what to do

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/195993

and btw, bins are for cd's,not dvd's,so you cant burn them onto a dvd without altering them, thus thats why you get that message

Thanks alot for the quick response Hursty. Very helpful.

I have extracted the 3 mpeg files for the movie using isobuster and I can now watch them on my media player on the pc. I am downloading Nero to try and burn them. I already have Nero but I can't find the Nero expressvision or whatever its called so I am trying the download from that other thread.

I do have a noobish video question. The video in the movie seems really grainy and very dark. I was told it was a digital copy from the original movie reel and that it is dvd quality. I assume it could be that it will look better on my tv than on my pc video player but somehow I doubt it.

Is there anyway to enhance the picture of a video using a permanent contrast or sharpener like you can do with still pics using Photoshop?

theres not a lot you can do about the picture quality to be honest, although tmpge express version 3.0 does have some picture editing features, but i havent used it
i guess this is a download, and the quality will maybe look worse on the tv.
you can need to convert the files now into vob's etc,
try using dvixtodvd for this,
but as they are from bins,i doubt it will accept them

another app you can use for the mpeg's is mainconcept,
this will convert the mpeg's into dvd format mpeg's,which you then need to author into vobs with tmpge author,
then burn onto a dvd disk
its bit long winded,though

Ah so you can't use Nero to burn them? I tried and it won't accept the MPegs. So I need to get Mainconcept and tmpge author now?

Wow now Im really confused. That tmpge software mpeg converter is WAY out of my league. It's asking me all these things about encoding and resolution and NTSC and interlacing, etc. When I previewed the movie it looked really squished up, like 4:3 instead of 16:9.

I think im out of my league now. There is no way to take the converted bin files and just burn them without all this other conversion?

you can use nero to burn them, its just not the best quality
give it a go and see what you think

open nerovision express, and create a dvd,
add the 3 mpeg's in,all on top of each other, and click through the screens, you can add a menu here
it will thn convert them to vob's etc

if the mpeg's are showing to be too big, dont worry

make sure you write to a folder, and not to disk

this will give a video ts folder, which you then burn to a dvd

hi

you need nero visionexpress, NOT nero burning rom...

also you have wrong version of tmpgenc, you have plus or something else like express, you need tmpgenc dvd author v1.6xxxxxxxx its alot easier with a wizard to guide you on home to daddy...

also after mainconcept makeing dvd compliant mpeg2 you can use divxtodvd to get vob/ifo/bup files which you can burn with nero burning rom on add-video tab in dvd mode place all files of vob/ifo/bup inside the VIDEO_TS folder nero mkaes and burn those suckers to dvdr!

whoooosss ya daddy........

Nothing here to see, move along folks.

hey rotary, did i tell you that i used that mainconcept to give me mpeg dvd compliant files, the size was 3 gb's,
then i ran it through vso's to give the lovely vob's and the size went to 1.5 gb,...smaller.
