Hey guys, I am probably going to sound like an idiot for this but I have no idea how to fix it. I am trying to encode an avi with a resolution of 640x272 and a framerate of 25fps. Now I am trying to convert the resolution only but everytime I try to encode (using tmpg) my output files are 8.5gig for the video and 3.95gig for the audio. I can't seem to change the file size in the wizard. Thanks

Don't use the wizard.
Drop audio bitrate to 224kbps using mpeg1-layer 2 (mp2).
Drop video bitrate until it fits.

Ok, I've tried it but it's still spitting out huge files. Not only that but when I try and playback the newly encoded video it says it's like 3 hours long and I can't see anything. Is there some setting I am missing?

If you use the "Wizard" in TMPGEnc it will automaticly adjust the bitrate for you so it fits on a DVD....

Allways make sure you are useing the "Mpeg-1 Layer-2" audio Format because the "LPCM" Format sucks up too much Space on the DVD....

If you Movie is turning out with No Picture then try this in TMPGEnc, Go to "options" to "Enviromental settings" to "VFAPI Plugins" and Raise the Priority of the "Direct Show Multi-Media File Reader" to "2"...This should Hopefully make it so there is a Picture the next time you encode....

If your Movie is 3 Hours Long you will have to use an Average Video bitrate of 3150kbs and an audio bitrate of 192kbs for the Movie to Fit on a Single DVD-R.....

For this Length of a Movie 3150kbs is a Little Low to Produce the best Quality but if you change the Resolution to 352 X 480 for NTSC or 352 X 576 for PAL you will get Much better quality when useing that bitrate.....

Also if Your settings in TMPGEnc are Greyed out and you can not Change them then you will have to Load the "Unlock.mcf" Template from the "Extra" folder which will unlock all of the settings Or you can just Right click the Setting you want to Change and go to "Unlock" and it will unlock that setting.....
