help with choosing a DVD+R

Hi all i'm trying to burn a movie onto a DVD+R when i do so it begins to play ok but then starts to jump at places, is this due to the DVD being blue bottomed and not gold, as most players cannot read blue bottom discs correctly....

what brand of disc are you using matey, ive never heared of a blue bottomed disk before. you sure its not light purple(very light)
need to know how your ripping aswell and your encoding software, and just of of intrest what writer your using

hi there...
The discs i'm using are datawrite 4.7Gb DVD+R..and they are light purple, looks a bit like blue though.. my recorder is the Rioch MP5125A.. and i've tried using nero and dvd decrypter to burn the image of The Two Towers

hi there, i`m not getting that. mine is freezing & sometimes breaking up. i`m using
smartripper to demux then checking the size of the m2v file to see if it needs encoded.if it does i use rempeg 2, if not then spruceup and prassi to burn. i got a pioneer 104 & use datawrite classic with the yellow top.
is it the dvd-r?
do u know of any good dvd-r to use?

the datawrite dvd+r is not good for video , hence why it is so cheap, try dvd+master there about 20 dearer than datawrite but give you less problems
another fav is richo dvd+r
i had 30 of the datawrite ones and threw them all away because of the same problem. there only good for data.
as for the dvd-r i cant help you. im more of a dvd+ guy

thanks for the advise i will try those ones, as for the other guy, i have the Two Towers on DVD format already... it's in 93 files and you just join then together, then burn the image to dvd... it's very simple to do so

LOL. no need to shout buddy, just being honest with you. i really dont know much about dvd-
all i can say is that i use traxdata with my dvd ao3 and never had a problem like,
i use smartripper to rip the dvd then if its small enougth i go straight to ifoedit, if its to big i re-encode using tmpg then i put the m2v file in ifoedit with the ac3 file that dvd2avi created, try it that way.

I have went through over 100 ritek from rima.com and had only one bad burn and it was my own fault.my burner is hp 200i and they work great and are cheep also

Oh crap! I just bought 20 Datawrite DVD+R's and since I have a Aopen DVRW2412PRO, which is basically a Ricoh MP5212A, I guess I'll be watchin' choppie movies too :( But does this also effect the movie quality in PS2 Back-Ups?

affraid so matey, it was choppy for me in my ps2 version 7,
my mustek picked the disk up and started to read it but the inevatable came, the film just stopped,
if you have any disks spare send em back

That sux. I was really tempted by the price and I also don't like those dvd-boxes that take up so much of my valuable space since my dvd collection is gonna grow a lot faster with a dvd writer :). Also a big problem here in Holland is the availability of DVD+R's on spindles.
Isn't there a way to calibrate you dvd-lens in your PS2 to give it a little boost?? I mean if it can be done with the cd-lens it should be possible to do it to the dvd-lens.

Hi again I just burned a couple of datawrite DVD+R's with my Aopen DVRW2412PRO and it seems te be working fine afterall.
I was looking at the top of the dvd when I noticed that there was a small impression on the surface and when I looked closely it read Sony DVD+R??!! So Datawrite is probably buying discs from other manufacturers. The choppy movies are caused by the weight of the discs. I think the discs are just to heavy to spin at the right speed. Just like with cd's with a paper covers.

hi guys,
k i bought some traxdata dvd+r disks today,
cost me £0.90p per disk.
burned 5 upto now with no problems, working in ps2 and standalone players,
not sure about the weight though. the disk uses the blue dye.

i've been using datawrite for 4 weeks now and never had one bad copy with video or ps2.got a phillips writer and use nero to burn the disks with.

I just bought some DVD-ON +rw and those are working great. I don't have any problems with playback on my dvd player. You can buy them for $2 a piece at supermedia.

hi guys,well the bulkpaq green 2x are doing the same has the datawrite classic with the yellow top breaking up. i found that the disc with the dark purple dye is far by the best. traxdata do one & datasafe did one. could anyboby let me know of any other brands that has the dark purple writing surface that would be great.

hello, i've already tried to backup movies with a 5pack Platiunum DVD+R's, didn't work..later on i've tried TDK DVD+R, also didn't work..the only succesfull backup on DVD+R was a AOPEN DVD+R which i got along with my Writer, a AOPEN DVD+RW 2412 PRO..Can someone help me choose a dvd from this list who will be supported by Standalone Players..:

Dont know what you lot are doing wrong with the Datawrite disks,on my second 100 without a hiccup!!!

I got a good starter pack from www.blankdiscshop.com which is probably your best route , 4 diff dvd+r makes and one traxdata dvd+rw for around a tenner. Have tried them all, with my NEC burner and every type works. They are as follows, Datawrite, traxdata, Ritek ( whitetops) & FWS. Hope this is of use. Prog used for burning was Nero
nb had some trouble initially with Ricoh discs, but about to try them again as they are meant to be very reliable ( hence the cost ) and I've got a sneeky suspision the fault probably lay with me!

I've tried a few brands of cheaper DVD-Rs for my PS2 games... I have a Pioneer AO5. I'd say Ritek or Universal works the best... The ones i burned with Princo wouldnt always start... Never tried Datawrite. I would suggest Universal DVD-Rs with print at buy-dvd-r.com . The no print ones are not so hot...
