On dvd +r's it says rw right? so they are re-writable right? I think to myself as i turn out another coaster after a failed attempt to do some tricky crap with dvd+r's, why cant i erase these things.

I am using a sony dvd rw dw-d26a dvd burner. It has all the bells and whistles written on the front "DVD +ReWritable" etc etc. Yet i cannot for the life of me work out how to erase a dvd+r. Nero wont do it, win xp wont do it. "this disk is not erasable" then why is it written on the dvd.

I was hoping someone could shead some light on the issue. are these things lying to me or am i a retard? or possibly both.

I get the feeling it is a software issue as my previous benq burner did teh same thing. (this is assuming the dvd+r's arent lying to me)

Thanks people.

try some dvd+rewritables~ you can usually purchase them locally in a 5 pack or 3 pack (that's all you need really, you can test on them and erase them fully to rewrite again and again after you have finished). :)

i have had good testing results with a 15 pack of Maxell dvd+rw (rewritables) that i picked up during an Office Depot sale for $10~
office depot always has maxell sales, just gotta jump in at the right time~ the sku # for the office depot Maxell dvd+rw is 274-784 (in case you wanted to check it out online) :)

that was my post in another recent thread...dvd+r discs ARE NOT REWRITABLE~ the ones you need to use are the dvd+rw disc, as mentioned above~ :P

this is a common misinterpretation of media, very simple mistake~ we all live and learn~ hope that clarifies it a bit~ good luck~

what's the exact name of the media you're having problems with ?

you can download dvdinfopro (free trial) and one of the things you can do is get detailed media info.

plus it might be worth us looking at your firmware revision - the easiest way to get the firmware revision of your burner would be to post a section of your Nero log - it's in c:\program files\ahead\nero\nerohistory.log. post a section and edit out your serial number which usually begins with '1A21' or similar

this sounds like a fairly recent burner but it might not properly support the media you bought so it's always worth checking the firmware
