Hi there

I d/l a sequence of files, some VOB, some IFO and BUP

I want to do 2 things ... (1) convert the files to mpeg and (2) burn the lot to a useable DVD

I was able to do (1) by just changing the files names to .mpg - thanks to the person on the forum who explained that

I tried (2) by just using Nero. I put all the files in the Video_TS folder. When I played the DVD, there was no sound. Do I have to prepare the files somehow before burning? Do I have to strip out the audio somehow?

Any help appreciated

thanks, dave
For the fo

Hi there...

ket me see if you get you right, ok?

you got this bunch of IFO, BUP and VOB files, right? That means you've used some tool to get them from a DVD, for instance DVD Decrypter.

If you want to convert those files onto some other DVD of your choice (for instance plan to add several movies and menus) you'll need to use an authoring tool, such as TMPG DVD Author. Prior to it you'll need to convert those files onto two files: one video and one audio file (m2v & ac3). To merge all VOB files and create these brand new files you need a tool, I recommend VOBEdit. You can get it from here http://www.free-codecs.com/download/VobEdit.htm

Once you get these files you use the authoring tool described above (or the plenty of ones available, check this very site) and the outcome are two folders on your hard drive: AUDIO_TS & VIDEO_TS. Usually the audio_ts folder is empty, do NOT worry about that (but don't delete the folder).

Many dvd authoring tools have the ability to burn everything afterwards, if not you can open Nero and select DVD video and move all the contents in the video_ts folder on your hard drive to the one created by Nero.

If you do that you should be ok and able to see everything on your DVD player. I suggest recording your project on a DVD RW first to ensure correct playability.

Have fun
