I am in the process of buying HD Advanced for my ide HDD but do I need to buy these programs as well, or are they just other choices for a software program that I should consider before I purchase HD Advanced?

as he said, dms4 is a modchip, and toxic os is the bios for it,it has its own form of hdloader included i believe as well as many other nices features. the toxic os is free for download, but the dms4 pro modchip costs about 80 bucks i believe.

well, according to some online websites it states that i need those two items to run an external HD for PS2 slimline. If that is true, would i have to actually sodder the mod chip onto the slimline and how would i attach the bios to the HD would i load it through a computer?

and can i use that bios with the old PS2 or would i be better to use HD Advanced for my older ps2?

ok, whoever said ull need those two in order to use a usb hd ont he slimline ps2,may they rot in hell for misleading you. you can get it for the slimeline ps2 and still use a usb hd for it without having to buy any software tho. but yes, you would actually have to solder the modchip on the ps2, and you jus upgrade the bios of the chip, you dont have to attach it to the hd or anything, its just data.

about the old ps2, if i was you, i would personally jus install the cip in the older one and use it, and jus give the slimline away or something, using hdadvanced is much faster than a usb hd, and whos knows, you might luck up and get a maxtor drive that can be formatted to be recognized in the ps2 browser like an official one, if you get a a chip with atad patching.

You burn it to a cd then load it on to there , or it will selfinstall i think :)

And toxicos is the bios you can use with DMS4 PRO, so to use it you will need dms4 pro :)
