Hi

I've got a jap Gamecube with a USA/JAP switch on it, I just had a viper chip installed and the guy who fitted it took off the switch saying that it's incompatible with the viper chip.

I know that they aren't incompatible because my friend has his gamecube set up with both, but he lives abroad so I can't take his cube in to show the guy.

I was just wondering if there is anyone here who has fitted a Viper chip to a US or jap machine that has a USA/JAP switch and it still works, and if you had to make any changes to get them to work together?

My Viper chip has bios 1.2 I think.

Thanks

Sure they work together, usa/jap switch is only on/off switch for bridge.
I dont know does Viper work in Japanese GC:s, but if work, then usa/jap works with Viper.

Hi

The guy fitted the Viper chip and took off my USA / Jap switch and the viper chip worked fine, he put back the USA / Jap switch and now it just boots to the normal gamecube menu screen. I took it back and he just says you can have one or the other not both. I know he's wrong but he wants proof, any help would be great.

Thanks

he should be showing your proof that they dont work togeather. if i had to guess i would say he is wrong. theres nothing technical about the usa/switch. but theres also really no purpose if viper can play imports. im not sure if it does though

I need the switch for my saves, without the switch my gamecube is Jap so saves in jap format, but most of my original games are usa so my mem cards are usa format so are now incompatible. I don't want to start all my games again.

The guy just propably wants to proof that he's right and took one wire off of the Viper that it wont work, to show u that it's incompatible with usa/jap switch :P

It should work, because there is no difference in wire order between jap and usa GC:s
