problem with splitting an avi file! please help

i have an avi file of 700 mb and i tried to split it with virtualdub, but after i splitted it the audio didn't fit the video
and i tried everything to fit them to each other!

i also tried to split the movie with Ripitall, but when the program starts splitting, it says "Error opening file"
but the process still goes on
when it finishes, i enter the splitted movie
and the media player says "cannot play back the file"

WHAT WILL I DO? PLEASE HELP!

I'm not sure what the problem is but maybe if you provide a little more info on this it will spark an idea with someone. The way you wrote your problem it sounds to me like there could be at least a half dozen reasons why this happened.

Is there a guide you followed when you split the files?

Did the audio not match the video on both halves of the split movie or just the second half?

Any other details you can think of?

i did followed all the orderes (split avi with virtual dub)....
and the audio doesn't match at both of the splitted files

i tried a lot of programs:
Avi splitter
easy splitter
ripirall
virtualdub
nundub

*the movie is : The Green Mile
