Well Im looking foward to buy a pack of 50 DVD-R, I noticed that the Fujis -R where made In taiwan So I dont wanna risk getting prodisc or CMC mag, so I have decided to get another brand, the problem is I dunno what brands rename Taiyo Yuden media, I cannot buy them online due to time issues, I can only buy them at retail stores in florida, I dont want verbs, so is there any brand that renames REAL taiyo yuden -R that I can find easily? I was looking foward to buy TDK (their 1st class media) but I still hope to find Taiyo Yudens, so simple: What brands sell or rename Taiyo Yuden DVD-R that I can easily find on a store??

I was wondering if these TY 4X media (TG01) listed above will burn higher than 4x. Most of the 8X TY media will burn up to 16X on some burners.

@LABOY.....................

i don't know if they will burn faster than 4X..........
but if you read the reviews section when you look at these
disks, a lot of people say these TY's will burn faster
than marked ect....

i my case i'm sticking to 4X burning prossess inway seem
to have less problems burning at low speeds, a lot of
people say that besides me, thats just what i perfer to
stay at.......................

as creaky states kivory666 has a lot of imformation about this
i learned a lot from him aswell.

i have been using Ritek GO4's and GO5's for about 2 years, started
have problems with them, i think the quality went down.

i'm very pleased with the TY's, think the guality is far superior
to most...................

good day..........

@paztelu, any reason you don't want to use Verb's ?. any way i can convince you ?. I tried TY, but still find Verb is the top dog for me.

I used to have loads of Indian Verbs from ebuyer (8x i think, can't remember sorry, i get addled easily). Anyway as far as i can remember taiwan are where the datalifeplus are coming from at the moment, singaporeand india are the older stock. But as i've put in other posts, i've had zero problem with any of the datalifeplus, regardless of their origin

lol. i still prefer the Verb's as the matte top surface is far better for writing and little fingers (the kids!). what i do like about the TY's is they don't seem to be like cheap cd's or dvd's where the silver top would flake. I bought 100tub of TY but have only used half a dozen, but can almost say i've been happy with them, but i still prefer the Verbs for now..

you guys, you kill me :)

plus i already said the same to kivory666 so he knows i'm still a reserve in his TY club in the US, but i'm concentrating on leading the Verbs into battle from the UK.

lmao. he loves his TY, and Verb's second, i am just the other way round...

i often think how it was with CD's, i have burnt many 1000s of cd's over the years, almost since CD's first came out (and i still heavily use a lot of them now) (ps i'm new to DVDs). When i started out with cd writing, i would stick to the brand names, ie trakdata, kodak, sony etc etc. But as the years wore on, not once did i ever care where the cheapy cd's came from, who they were made by or whatever, even for what became my primary use of CD's - audio. i've had my fair share of CD coasters, but never could this be attributed to a particular brand, so you'd never even think of checking into media the way you HAVE TO with DVD's.
God help us when higher capacity/newer types of media comes along.

Teetering off topic ever so slightly, i'm sure the first ever retail CD to be made was Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms and that's how long i've been into CD's, i used to buy sooo many CD albums, and was into recordable CDs since their beginning; as for PC CD players, i paid £450 for a 1x Creative drive with speakers and sound card.

sorry i just thought of all that, i'm a bit scatty. To get back on topic, i still prefer Verb's all the way

HAHAHA to the comments above, im just getting back from the hospital after that "convulsion down my spine" that ppower mentioned earlier~ :)

actually, that is partially true as i DO work in a hospital, but, it wasn't for my own health related reasons, had patients to attend to~

anyways, to catch up a bit after the weekend...hmmm...to the initial poster, paztelu, if you have no done what creaky suggested by searching my other posts...im curious as to WHY you have not tried Verbs as they are VERY good media in the dvd-r format that you are looking for...

there is no sure fire way to obtain Taiyo Yudens locally if you are ONLY willing to purchase the dvd-r format, as Fuji was the ONLY one i KNEW 100% ahead of time would be TY if it were MADE IN JAPAN. i know many bestbuy stores no longer carry the 8x dvd-r Fuji MADE IN JAPANs which were the TYGO2 coding, but, in terms of other brand names that have TY coding...i ONLY use the dvd+r format PERSONALLY~

i am very much partial to the dvd+R format as i PERSONALLY feel it's a higher quality format, anyone can argue with me that they prefer dvd-r MORE or dvd-r works better for them all day long, but, im just stating my opinion of it. the reason for this is dvd+r format can be booktyped to dvd-rom (on CERTAIN BURNERS-not all burners support this mind you), and this creates 100% compatibility and playback on ALL my standalone players~ even higher than my dvd-r media which is generally regarded as the most compatible (in it's unaltered form).

anyways, if you are willing to use dvd+r format, then i will suggest Fuji and Sony, but must find the MADE IN JAPANs, or else my suggestion will not apply to you. i know they still have MANY of the MIJ Fujis at my local best buy, i don't see why they would not have any of them in Florida. :) Sony dvd+r MIJ are also the identical coding, YUDEN000T02.~

because of the previously stated "time issues" that you have with ordering online, then there goes my suggestion to get the TY DVD-R format that you wanted for a good price~ :P can't help you there if you will only buy locally~

everyone's situation and setup is different, but, if you are not willing to use the dvd+r format as i suggested above, and don't want Verbs either...not much else i can offer you in terms of assistance.

@ everyone else in this thread

thank you for your very kind words and your vote of confidence in my ability to know TY media better than anyone alive :) LOL j/k~
as my sig. states, TY and Verbs for life~ :) Great media= FLAWLESS burns...as the war continues....

hi aabbccdd, good to hear from you again.~ :P

btw, to booktype is ONLY for dvd+r format~ i know there is a WAY to do it with dvd-r, but that is HIGHLY debateable on AD as well as many other forums~ :) so i will not even press that further...

if you try the dvd+r TYs...you can booktype them to dvd-rom and im sure your standalone dvd players will adore them as much as they like your dvd-r formats~ :)

i have a few VERY picky dvd players that will NOT play my highly compatible dvd-r...but, when booktyped to dvd-rom on my DVD+R format, they play without a hitch~ :)

good luck to you have a nice day~
