Before I get this printer, does this print Images/Photos as well as CD's? All the banter seems to be about CD labels and nothing at all about image quality. Just wondering...
TIP: CompUSA has been giving this printer free (by way of rebates) with the purchase of any digital cam 3.0 megapixels or higher, just as info.

I just bought this printer and I bought a stack of Taiyo Yuden 8X DVD+R 4.7GB silver inkjet printable, and the ink does not stay on the DVD.
When I print it looks very nice, but the ink does not dry, I left it on there for 3 days and was still able to wipe the ink off.
How, do you tell, if this is the correct media?

I have the Epson R300 and use it to print on Taiyo Yuden ink jet printable discs and they are perfectly dry in about 30 mins. I did experiment and print on some Sony discs that were dull silver finish but not really printable ones, the colours faded bigtime and I could rub the ink of easily even 5 weeks after printing.

Yes the R200/300's are excellent printers for photos and documents as well with the added benefit of a cd/dvd tray. They make excellent prints of the dvd cover art useing photo quality paper. It has 6 ink cartridges and imho the ink lasts longer than most 2 or 4 cartridge printers (that I know of anyway). I can buy a complete set of compatable cartridges (every bit as good as oem) online for $16.85 and $3.95 shipping. I always buy an extra black and yellow as they get used up first.
bcnn,
Are you sure your dvd's are inkjet printable and not thermal? I haven't tried the silvers but have great results with the white surface. Dry in under 30 min.

By 30 min I mean dry to where you can rub them hard and the ink won't smudge or rub off on your fingers. They're probably dry to the touch in under a minute but I never have attempted to smudge them just to see how long they need to dry before doing so.

as mort stated, i too have a R300, and i used the SILVER printables TY of course(just my personal preference as i like the glossiness over the white background) and mine dry too in approx. 1/2 hour~ :)
i have a feeling you are printing to the THERMALs which have a tendency to fade and easily wipe off(the ink-unless you have a THERMAL PRINTER handy to make your labels)
there is a big difference between the inkjet and thermal printers and such the difference is apparent if you print on a thermal w/ an inkjet and vice versa~ regarding your R200, i would suggest you make sure that you get the INKJET PRINTABLE TY (in your choice of white or silver), rather than the thermal ones which i believe are the ones you are trying to print on~ (this is just an assumption, but after a few spindles of the inkjet printable ones, i have never had to wait much longer than an hour MAX for them to completely dry~)
good luck
