Hey guys. I just got my hd advance, and I'm trying to convert Midnight Club 3. I started it, and it said there was some read errors, and whether or not to continue. So, I let it continue, but I'm looking up in the forum, and someone asked a question about compatability. So I look on the list, and it said for the us version of MC 3 that is was Toxic OS mode 3. And on others it says HDL/HDA compatible. Can anyone help me? I'm not sure what to do.

nevermind. I figured it out, But if something says toxic os3, does that mean it won't work on with HDadvance?

Does it switch modes automatically?

no, it doesnt switch modes automatically. you have to manually set it in HDA. for the toxic OS, i believe that is one version of a patched HDL elf file to include support and fixes some compatibility issues for some games. God of War is one example.
have you done the memorycard exploit by any chance? if so, just download an updated elf, load it up, and do some clubbing at midnite.

Hey thanks. So through the exploit you can play midnight 3? Awesome. That is what I'm in the middle of doing right now I think. I'm trying to get help on it. It is in another thread. I can't seem to figure it out. Can you help?

i can only tell you my method of doing it, which involved a bulldozer, codebreaker v8.1, a usb drive, an original psx/ps1 cd, ten pizzas, a cyber ninja turtle (with all the weapons) and some software.
the software: independence compiler v 2.x AND ps2 savebuilder (obtainable from somewhere around here)
find an original psx/ps1 cd, and get the slus_XXX.XX number off it. use the independence compiler to create the basics for your exploit. you can use the compiler to obtain the slus id for your trigger cd. i used launchelf as my loader. make sure you set the file to generate a memory card version of the exploit, and not an image file. next use the ps2 savebuilder to build a codebreaker save file. copy codebreaker save file to usb drive. use codebreaker 8.1 (device manager) to copy the save file from usb to memory card. if all worked out right, put in your trigger cd and reboot ps2. exploit should begin after the flash of the screen. use launchelf (or another loader) to config your buttons to do stuff. t'is a fun and easy process.
codebreaker 8.1 was 20bux at walmart, and the usb drives are less than 30bux at walmart too. $50 or less that will be well worth it in the future. and after i defeated the cyber ninja turtle and all his weapons in kombat for the ten pizzas, i ran over him with the bulldozer. basically.

you only need to connect the hdd to the pc if you are transferring data from winhiip. the stuff i just wrote, had nothing to do with the hdd being in the pc. are you transfering game images from winhiip?

Well, that's what I intend to do. Is there a way I can transfer games w/o actually placing my hdd in the pc? That's what I dont get. I mean I don't mind putting the HDD in the PC, if I was able to. I just don't know how. I tried last night, and I didn't know where to do it.

there is a way using networking equipment and cables, and stuff, but i chose to be lazy and not understand how to use networking technology to transfer data. if you have any available slots in your pc, then you may need to set the PS2 hdd to slave and hook it up to one of the available spots in the pc. am i to assume that you have never opened your pc?

Yeah your fairly right in that. Someone told me though, since I have 2 hard drives allready, just to replace the 2nd one temporarily, and then put it back in. It shouldn't be too hard, huh? Just copying how the 2nd one is done?

yes, that is exactly right. it's not hard at all. make sure you set that ps2 hdd to slave because if not, it'll conflict with the one already in the pc. make sure you KNOW which one is already set to slave, that's the one you want to swap with. be careful not to short circuit anything, and you'll find that it becomes a li'l easier as you get used to it.

I have a question about the files on my computer though. They are in a WinRAR archive, and when I unzip them, they are in all these different iso segments. What should I do for this.?

you should extract the first one which usually has the first .rar extension, or .r00 or .000 the rest will fall into place. but make sure you have enough space to extract them.

Ok, thanks again for the reply. Here is an example. It's smackdown vs. Raw, and when I first open it up, it has all of these archived files inside of it, ie..wwesvr.r00 through 48, and then one also that is wwesvr.rar. I tried extracting the .00 one, and then the .rar one, and each time it only did themselves. Should I highlight them all at once? Will the end result be one file? or 48 of them?

no, you should right-click on the RAR file itself and select "extract to...". i think you can create a folder you want to store it into.
or if you have space on the drive, right click and select "extract to (rar file as folder name)\" and it will make a folder for the rar file, and it should extract everything else associated with it, and put it all in the folder as one file.

OK, I think maybe they have halfway unzipped some of the files. Because after I extracted from the original, it put them all in one folder, and .01 to .30 are in more zipped folders each, and then the others are unzipped. Hard to describe, sorry. I'll add pics if I can find out how
