I bought a Studio TV Terminator card a couple months ago and used it once with a borrowed VCR to capture video. Worked reasonably well.

Now I have my own VCR which worked fine for years. Hooked it all up and tried two different cassettes. The audio comes through, but I get a steady annoying static buzz and no video at all. I tried both VirtualDub and QuickTV, the unit's own software, dutifully set to Composite. I fiddled with the cable, nothing changes.

What's wrong?

LATER: I figured it out myself. The color coding on the four-wire cable connector thingie was wrong; I naively thought white to white, red to red would work -- NOT. Experimentation worked.

However: my sound is kind of scratchy, and there are thin diagonal lines in the video. What might the cause be? The card? My system is a P4 2.4GHz Celeron, 1.25 gig RAM, Win2000Pro, SoundBlaster 24-bit card.
