WAY IS THIS DO I NEED SOMETHING FOR THE PS2 CONSOLE
HELP PLEASE
Yeah you need something for the console called a ModChip. I won;t go into all the technical details but you will need it in order to play backed up games. To save you some surfing time I recommend the DMS 4 E.Z.I. Modchip. You can find more information about this on Their Website - http://www.dms3.com
Getting it is one thing but installing it is another. They have detailed instructions on how to do it on their site also, just look around a bit.
I recommend this one because their is no soldering involved.
if you dont want to void your warrenty use swap magic, they are boot discs
PS2 games are actually pressed DVD/CD discs, they are not burned. PS2 games use the Burst Cutting Area (BCA) of the disc to identify themselves to the PS2 unit. The BCA is not part of a disc that you can burn on, it is only replicated on pressed discs.
So, the only way to play backups is to get boot-discs or a mod-chip.
With the boot-discs (swap magic) you need a 'tool' to open
the tray without pressing eject for the backups to work.
I used Swap Magic and was not satisfied at all. it ruined some of the gaming experiences for me. For example San Andreas - The intro credits couldn't play and I am somebody who loves to see the opening credits of a game.
Further than that, I really don't feel comfortable forcing my disk tray open and I don't think that it has been proven safe either.
In my opinion, skip the swap magic and go for hassle free, no-solder, non permenant solution - DMS4. Sure Swap Magic saves your warranty but I prefer the DMS4 No-Solder.
